Greeley's Legacy is a Kentucky bred dark bay gelding born April 29th, 2003 (Mr. Greeley – Deceit Princess, by Vice Regent) Greeley made 35 starts and won four, with eight seconds and five thirds, earning more than $250,000. Greeley’s Legacy raced until age 7 in 2010, making his last start at Belmont in the fall.
There were high hopes for Greeley’s Legacy: he raced in the 2006 Gotham, Coolmore Lexington, Wood Memorial, and Preakness, generally finishing in the middle of the pack. He carved out a nice niche for himself and ran competitively in optional claiming races for several seasons. Eventually Greeley slipped into claiming events and wound up in the barn of Charlton Baker and Akindale happily offered a retirement home for Greeley.
The phone call came Thanksgiving weekend in 2010 and Greeley’s Legacy was welcomed with open arms. Greeley’s Legacy is a patient and sweet soul; he truly enjoys a mint and a nice grooming. Greeley is currently residing in our training barn where he is enjoying his exercise routine as well as leisurely trail rides with our trainer. Greeley is loving retirement at Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue where he will spend the rest of his years.
